About this product
S.T. Dupont is excited to announce the latest addition to the Art of Fire collection. The Defi Extreme Soft Flame in two new colors: Khaki Green and Black. The collection merges the modern design and sturdy durability of the original Defi Extreme lighter with the perfect soft flame to light your favorite cigar, pipe tobacco etc.
This lighter features a wind resistant soft yellow flame which allows cigar enthusiasts to light cigars and pipes indoor and outdoors. It has a large flame adjustment wheel for your desired flame high, temperature, and strength.
How does a Soft Flame Défi Extrême differ from the Torch Flame version?
While standard Défi Extrême lighters emit a rigid blue jet torch flame, the Soft Flame (REF W21322) produces a traditional, natural yellow flame. This makes it ideal for pipe smokers (to prevent burning briar wood rims) or cigar enthusiasts who prefer gentle lighting, while retaining the extreme weather resistance of the Défi chassis.
Why does the Défi Extrême use Red Gas instead of Black Gas?
The Défi Extrême system is specifically calibrated to run on S.T. Dupont Red Gas (REF 000436 / 900436). This specialized butane blend contains specific pressure properties required to maintain stable fuel flow at extreme mountain elevations and freezing sub-zero temperatures.
Does the Soft Flame version have a fuel level window?
Yes! The side body features an integrated clear sight glass with red fuel level indicator lines, allowing you to monitor your remaining butane easily at a glance.
